WHAT IS SMART SKINNY RECIPES?
The recipes I’ll be sharing here will be healthy and focused on the Weight Watchers freestyle/smart points plan. For the past 3 years I’ve been focusing on the most decadent comfort food possible over at The Chunky Chef. This website is created for those who are wanting to eat a little lighter, for whatever reasons you may have.
ARE YOU PERSONALLY FOLLOWING A WEIGHT WATCHERS PLAN?
Not exactly… although I have in the past (successfully). I guess by default I sort of will be, as we eat a lot of the meals I make for both blogs, and I plan to make my Smart Skinny Recipes blog posts my lunch on the days I photograph new recipes 🙂
HOW DO I CALCULATE POINTS?
The best, and most accurate way, is to log in to your Weight Watchers dashboard and click on “create” and “recipe” and use their recipe builder to add recipe ingredients. The reason for this is that with the new freestyle plan (which I LOVE), there are 200 foods that are now considered zero points. For a complete list of these, click HERE!
If you went by straight nutritional information alone, your point values would be way off, as things like beans and chicken breasts wouldn’t be accounted for as zero points.
ARE YOU A NUTRITIONIST?
Oh goodness no. All nutritional values here are calculated with online calculators, and if you’re following a super strict diet, you should double check since all calculators have some degree of variability.
I’M WORRIED THAT EATING HEALTHY RECIPES WILL BE BORING
That’s a common misconception, that I think we’ve all believed at one time or another. My job here is to bring you the best recipes that are a fantastic combination of bold and flavorful, yet healthy and nourishing.
